EXCLUSIVE! Blonde – The New Made In Britain Sportswear Collection From Lexie Sport
‘Blonde’ is the name of this latest collection and it takes its inspiration from the, ‘irony in both athletes and blondes being admired and often considered very desirable, but frequently viewed as dumb’ says designer Lily Rice. ‘The Blonde collection challenges this by providing a highly desirable fashion item that works at the highest level.’ The connection is apparent in the Lexie aesthetic, pieces that look very fashionable and easy to wear but are actually designed with sports performance in mind.
The unique print in the collection was created through research into light refraction working from blonde hair strands, smashed glass and diamonds. The collection does not disappoint and in my opinion is more fashion-forward and edgier than the previous collection and I am loving that it is made right here in the UK. Some of the sweaters, hoodies and leggings from the past have been carried through but given a fresh new update with the custom ‘ blonde’ print for 2014. Pieces still feature many technical details as well and reflective tape which features heavily in the design.
The stand out piece for me is the Diana short – there are workout shorts and then there are THESE! As soon as I saw these I knew that they would form part of my workout wardrobe and be on heavy rotation come summer. I mean have you ever seen a pair of workout shorts like these before – didn’t think so?! Not quite a short or skort, the detailing and the print are very eye catching without being garish and, as is standard with Lexie sport, will transport you effortlessly from the studio to the street . When you put these on, your outfit will pop whether you are going to the gym or just chilling at the weekend. Rock these with the Carole Crew (in the picture) or one of Lexie’s signature print hoodie to get a workout look that is not only fresh and fashionable but highly functional too.
